The renovation took four monthsand features what company officials call an updated store environment.
A 1,700 square foot Sephora shop became part of the plans when the idea of renovating the store first evolved.

The Sephora shop is located in the center of the store and is one of more than 500 nationally.
“Locals can come to this JCPenney and get make up and skin care products,” Thomas said. “It makes sense to have offerings that differentiates us from our competition.”
Thomas said products for men are also available in the Sephora shop.
Sought after brands in the store include Liz Claiborne, which is exclusive to JCPenney,Nike and Disney, with private labels Arizona jeans, St. John’s Bay, Worthington and Stafford available.
If it’s shoes a customer is shopping for, there’s dress, casual and athletic.
Cosmetically, noticeable renovations include new light emitting diodes (LED), new fixtures and new tile for the floor.
The store has had minor renovations in the past, but this is the first large scale renovation, and company officials wanted to have the store ready for Black Friday and the holiday shopping period.
Store manager Christen Barron sees the renovation as a commitment from JCPenney.
“JCPenney has been (in Jackson) for 92 years, and we hope to be here a lot longer,” Barron said. “We’re excited about the new styles, and we’re looking to keep our customers local, making sure we have the brands they want kind of a one stop shop.”
