“I graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Windsor in 1975. It was an 11 month fast track program and the toughest educational experience of my life,” says Joseph Mimran.

“Although I was in Windsor for only 11 months, I am constantly amazed by how much of that education has stayed with me. The strong foundation it provided helped build the rest of my professional career.”

Joe’s vision in guiding Club Monaco from its humble local origins to an international vertical retail phenomenon, which in retrospect, became a forerunner of the value conscious lifestyle marketing of the 1990’s with stores in Canada, United States and several Asian countries.

At the September 2000 Night of the Stars tribute staged by the Fashion Group International of Toronto, Mimran, Brand, was honoured for his part in the establishment of two great pioneering Canadian brands, Alfred Sung and Club Monaco. Joe’s fashion career was the result of an unexpected twist of fate since he trained to be an accountant and already had started to work at one of Canada’s largest accounting firms.

After the Club Monaco chain was sold to Polo Ralph Lauren Corp. in 1999 for $52.5 million, Mimran established a design firm that recently developed a line of private label President Choice housewares and home accessories for Loblaws stores,
