cheap lacoste polo Federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau will wear shoes from Edmonton
The artistry of the local custom shoe creator, Poppy Barley, will be in the public eye Wednesday when federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau dons a pair of the company shoes to present the government budget.
The minister office contacted Poppy Barley about 10 days ago about getting involved in the annual ritual, says Caroline Gault, the company director of content and community.
“I think they were interested in having us because we a Canadian company, Edmonton based and female founded, that was really important,” says Gault,
noting the company prides itself on an ethical manufacturing process that pays workers fairly.
Poppy Barley was started by sisters Justine and Kendall Barber, who were inspired to create custom made fashion footwear after visiting a custom boot shop in Bali in 2012, becoming the first company in North America to offer custom fashion boots online. Since then, the duo has expanded to offer flats and ankle boots. In 2015, they began manufacturing men shoes.
Though the company is known for its custom work, Moreau has a standard size 12 foot, and was able to order a pair of $250 Edmonton Oxford style shoes online without requiring a special fitting, which is more expensive at $398 a pair.
