Forget regular wining and dining; polo matches have become the new party circuit essential among high flyers of Delhi and Mumbai. However, the biggest question is that what’s the ideal dress code for this equestrian event? There’s something special about polo matches that demand high fashion experiments, especially if you’re cheering the jocks on from VIP cabana seats. The elite sport calls for classy, yet playful dressing.

From oversized shades to intricate hats, you need to pay attention to every detail for that perfect look. Take a cue from these ladies who have pulled out all the stops to make an impression. While some were a hit, others missed the mark.

Here’s our take on who gets the fashion vote and who doesn’t.

From left to right: Sofia Hayat, Michelle Poonawalla and Sophie Choudry

Sofia Hayat: Sofia has teamed together four different looks of the wide brim gentleman hat, printed peplum dress, studded leather gloves and spikestudded buckle shoes. Individually they may have worked, but together, no chance.

Michelle Poonawalla: Sticking to a limited colour palette of brown, white and hints of black, Michelle plays the demure girl in her strapless Mary Katrantzou dress, side ponytail and nude pumps. We feel that this mesh headdress looks more like a mosquito net.

Sophie Choudry: If Sophie had been transported back to a century, she would have fit right in this vintage look. The blue lace dress and wide brim raffia hat go well with side swept hair. However, bright pink pumps could have easily been traded for something classier to complete the style.

Nisha Jamwal and Natasha Poonawalla

Nisha Jamwal: Were on the fence with this look. While the nautical print dress, nude pumps and black bag are much on track, the alien like shades and diamond chocker necklace dont do anything to help her fashion statement. Marks for the hat though.

Natasha Poonawalla: Natasha channels her inner Rihanna esque spirit with this Victoria Beckham body con dress, black hat fascinator, alligator skin bag and open toe heels. We love the strong yet sophisticated look with her sleek pulled back hair and square frames.
