slim fit polos Former Miss Ottawa Rough Rider unveils hot new clothing line
A former Miss Ottawa Rough Rider has launched a women pro sports clothing line that is hot, hot, hot.
With plenty of Tammy Laverty friends and family on hand, Laverty Designs Inc. was officially launched Thursday night at a downtown Ottawa bash at Real Sports Bar and Grill.
It hits a bull on the sexy front. Dresses can be made for each of the NHL teams, with the hope that the company can branch out into leagues like the NFL and NCAA.
Laverty has been kicking the idea around for a year or so but started to fast track it eight months ago.
The launching point really came two years ago when she had a strapless Senators dress custom made. Then, she had a second one done, a Senators Heritage jersey, scoop neck with long sleeves. It was a hit and the Canadian Tire Centre suite hostesses now wear them as their main uniform.
“I got a business partner and a sewer and got incorporated,” said Laverty, who is also a terrific singer, performing the national anthems at arenas and stadiums across North America for the Senators,
Los Angeles Kings, San Jose Sharks, Phoenix Coyotes, Los Angeles Dodgers, Oakland Athletics, Arizona Diamondbacks and Toronto Blue Jays.
“The first time I sang the national anthem, my legs shook the whole time. It was terrifying,” she said.
“And when I first sang in Ottawa, I was 10 times more nervous than I was in Los Angeles (at the Staples Center). But you find your groove. It an exciting feeling. I love it.
She lived in Los Angeles for 11 years, where she worked in an investment firm. Now, she back in Ottawa,
her feet firmly planted in her hometown where she a real estate agent for Royal LePage.
