JCPenney Co. associates here are scrambling to fill the shelves, dress the mannequins and complete intensive training as they prepare to open a store more than twice as large as the former location Saturday morning.
The official grand opening, compete with a marching band, will be Aug. 1. Saturday, according to Keith Kinckiner, store manager.

In addition to the size of the new store, customers who walk in the front door will immediately notice two concepts at center stage: a full service 1,500 square foot Sephora boutique and the American Living collection for men, women, children and the home, developed by a division of the Polo Ralph Lauren Corp.
Living is the largest brand launch ever in the history of the company, Kinckiner said, later adding the new store is also fitted with several features in response to customer demand, including shopping carts, price scanners and improved waiting areas with flat screen television sets by the fitting rooms. The store hair salon is also larger, with 18 stations instead of 13.
The Sephora beauty boutique will be staffed by a team of consultants who have completed extensive training in the of Sephora, offering some of the most desired brands in makeup,
skin care, fragrance and accessory products, including Bare Essentials and Philosophy.
Kinckiner said the department store window and houseware departments are three times bigger than at the previous store.

The store also has an all occasion portrait studio and customers can place or pick up catalog orders as well. The new JCPenney will also feature apparel and other items for to school shoppers, including an extensive line of Life products.

President Donald J. Trump signed into law tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from several countries. The tariff for steel is 25 percent and 10 percent for aluminum. Trump believes the move will help domestic steel and aluminum producers.
Critics of the move, including Republican leaders like Paul Ryan, fear a trade war could be looming. The European Union has already threatened new tariffs on American exports if Trump’s proposal becomes reality. Trump says trade wars are “good, and easy to win.”
