Upon arrival at Stewart International Airport in New York, passengers have the option of direct shuttle bus services into New York City which are timed to meet Norwegian’s flight arrivals. A new shuttle service will commence between Stewart Airport and Woodbury Common for passengers arriving on the new morning flight from Dublin. From 24 March, shuttle buses departing Woodbury Common will be timed for passengers to arrive at the airport three hours before Norwegian’s evening flight departures.

Norwegian currently operates six routes from Dublin to destinations in the USA and Nordic countries including Providence, Oslo, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Helsinki. Passengers flying Norwegian from Dublin and Shannon can use US Preclearance facilities to clear US immigration and customs before departure. The airline opened a new pilot base at Dublin Airport in 2017 to support the airline’s growing international operations.

Norwegian will also increase the number of transatlantic flights from Shannon. From 27 March, the airline will double its frequency to Providence from two to four flights a week and will add a third weekly flight to Stewart, New York.

This month, it was confirmed Stewart International Airport will be renamed New York Stewart International Airport as part of a $37 million airport upgrade to better handle soaring international passenger numbers. Norwegian is the only airline to operate international flights from Stewart International Airport.

If that number is multiplied by the 240 employees that joined the lawsuit and extended over six years, the total possible dollar amount reaches well into the millions.

Karl Spilhaus, president of the Boston based Cashmere and Camel Hair Manufacturers Institute, believes the difference in price is often an indication of quality. “It’s a question of significant lower quality,” he says.

It takes one Mongolian goat about four years to naturally shed enough hair to make one cashmere sweater. Thus without expensive manual “harvesting,” 100 percent cashmere might be hard to come by. Then the hair has to be washed and sorted by hand: Only the longest and finest under fleece the hair close to the goat’s skin on the belly and neck is spun and woven to make good quality cashmere. Once the raw material has been harvested, it must be spun into yarn and made into a garment. Spilhaus says that if he spends $300 to $400 on a cashmere sweater, he looks for a brand manufactured in Europe or Japan, although many cashmere sweaters and pashminas now carry the “Made in China” label. Although China supplies almost 60 percent of all cashmere on the market, that’s only the raw material. Manufacturing is a different matter, and although China turns out some items of reasonable quality, the European manufacturers are better, he says.

“The Chinese manufacturing of cashmere has developed in the last 30 years, whereas the European manufacturers have a history of several hundred years. In China, they often lack the design capabilities of the high end luxury mills,” Spilhaus says.

In particular, Scotland and Italy are traditional centers of excellence when it comes to spinning and knitting cashmere.

Of course, not everyone wants to pay the price for good quality 100 percent cashmere made in Europe, and there’s nothing wrong with wanting cashmere on the cheap. But it’s important to be an informed buyer.

First there is the question of fiber quality, which is measured in length and thickness. Fiber length ranges from 0.8 inch for cheap cashmere to up to 2.5 inches for the most luxurious. The diameter of the fiber must be less than 19 microns to be considered cashmere. In comparison,

The three Owner Suites on board Marina are unlike any luxury suites at sea. Upon entering the foyer guests will be struck with a sense of awe, as though they have entered an opulent estate home. Walls of inset Georgian wood paneling are finished in an ivory gloss. Art niches on either side are framed with polished stone and mirrored to reflect the statuary. An ivory marble entryway with a David Hicks inspired black and camel mosaic tile inset is surrounded by plush black carpeting trimmed with a polished nickel metal edge.

The foyer also contains a mahogany gloss bar with three ivory leather and chrome stools, stately burnished silver armchairs covered in faux crocodile and brown and white faux zebra skins and an oversized ivory brocade and black satin chaise in front of floor to ceiling windows offering sweeping ocean vistas. An ebony baby grand piano serves as the room focal point while a brilliant alabaster and polished nickel chandelier hangs overhead.

Guests will spend most of their time in the spacious living and dining room, which exudes the rich, clubby and refined elegance of a world class yacht. Macassar ebony veneered chests with silver hardware topped by faux Zebra framed mirrors flank the entrance. A camel colored, suede L shaped Modern penthouse sectional is prominently positioned in the corner. For restful nights at sea the Tocar designers used ivory wainscoting and plush silvery grey carpeting to set the stage for the high style and luxurious bedrooms of the Owner Suites. The walls above the wainscoting are covered in Austyn cashmere and all windows and balcony doors are dressed with ivory wool sheers and silver drapery panels in a shimmering, silk/cotton blend.

The bedroom centerpiece is the distinctive, Bel Air bed in a deep, library mahogany its headboard, footboard and side rails upholstered in steel blue mohair with polished nickel nail head accents. To its left and right are City Modern bedside chests with stainless trim and hardware, finished in rosewood mahogany. Night stands are topped with Faceted Crystal Prism lamps with white silk shades. A custom ceiling fixture in polished nickel with teardrop glass balls provides overhead boudoir lighting.

A Mayfair mirror with a burnished silver leaf frame and beveled glass adorns one wall, framed by polished nickel sconces with white pleated silk shades. Across the room is the Ralph Lauren Highbridge desk featuring stainless steel sawhorse base with glass top and Noble Estate side chair upholstered in camel wool seat base with contrasting ivory ribbed seat back and polished nickel nail heads. The new Nebraska Crossing opens Nov. 15, and developer Rod Yates said about 60 stores will be open.

Although Yates said it’s hard to predict how many people will show up on any given day, he expects an average of 10,000 to 12,000 people per day through the end of the year.

The mall has 1,600 parking spaces, Yates said, about 300 of which will be taken up on a daily basis by employees. That leaves 1,300 for mall patrons. Digital signs will tell people which parking areas are full and which have spaces.

If the lots are full, there aren’t a lot of other places for people to park.

What officials don’t want to see is drivers pulling off and parking on the shoulder of Nebraska 31.

Lt. Randy Furby of the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office said that’s one thing his agency will be looking for.

The sheriff’s office will not direct traffic on roads around the mall, he said, but it will have a presence there, at least during opening weekend and on Nov. 29, which is Black Friday, one of the biggest shopping days of the year.

“We’ll be doing everything we can to make sure traffic flows without accidents,” Furby said.

The mall’s only access points are on Nebraska 31, a two lane highway. One is Melia Drive on the south end of the property, which has been there since the original mall was built. 6 intersect.

That’s a new intersection with traffic signals that takes people into the mall on Nebraska Crossing Drive, which is a Gretna city street. The street funnels traffic into the mall and then back out via a roundabout. Gretna spent about $1 million on roadwork there.

“As far as what we’re looking at right now, we’d sure like to see people use that signalized intersection,” said Tim Weander, engineer for District 2 of the Nebraska Department of Roads. 6.

However, those using Interstate 80 to get to the mall from the east or the west are likely to use the Melia Road entrance.

Both the mall and Gretna officials have lobbied for a traffic signal at Melia Drive, but the state won’t allow one. 6 Nebraska 31 intersection.

Weander said another traffic light would make for one too many on such a short stretch of road.

There is nothing preventing drivers leavingthe mall from Melia Road from trying to turn left across traffic on Nebraska 31.

Without a signal,Furby said, that could be a huge problem, one that has the sheriff’s office considering preventing left hand turns.

“We’re talking about blocking that off during the rush times,” he said.

Another potential problem is traffic backups on Nebraska 31 andspilling out onto the interstate as exit ramps become clogged.

“That’s the State Patrol’s biggest concern and our biggest concern, too, is if traffic backs up on the interstate,” Weander said.

The Roads Department, State Patrol and Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office have been meeting regularly to discuss potential issues.

The Roads Department last week changed the left hand turn signal for southbound traffic exiting east onto I 80 from red and green arrows to flashing yellow. That will give drivers more control and discretion over their turns.

Weander said the change was not made because of the outlet mall, but it certainly won’t hurt if it improves the flow of traffic.

Furby said the patrol may put up mobile digital signs along the interstate both east and west of the Gretna exit to alertdrivers to the possibility the right hand lane might be backed up.

He said having a six lane interstate, as opposed to four lanes in 1993, should help with traffic flow and prevent slowdowns.

The line for New York’s hottest restaurant reaches all the way to Chicago.

The Polo Bar, Ralph Lauren’s place in Midtown Manhattan has “opened to a universally warm reception,” The New York Times wrote last month. “Almost immediately thereafter it became the kind of hot place where even knowing the secret email is no guarantee of booking a table any time soon or even a seat at the bar.”

But only one Big Apple journalist that I could find, New York magazine food critic Adam Platt, acknowledged the concept’s roots: “Much of the look of the New York operation, and a good deal of the cooking expertise, derives” from Chicago’s RL, Lauren’s restaurant tucked behind his eponymous Michigan Avenue store.

RL’s operators, Gibsons Restaurant Group, oversee food and service at The Polo Bar. This is the same team behind Gibsons Bar Steakhouse and Hugo’s Frog Bar, epitomes of classic, Chicago dining.

The Polo Bar is the company’s first foray outside of Chicago, Gibsons co owner Steve Lombardo said. This is not a talking point the public relations people at Ralph Lauren HQ are eager to broadcast. One had the gall to suggest that it was against corporate policy for Rich Varnes, RL’s general manager who helped launch The Polo Bar, to talk to the press.

(WBEZ once spotted Varnes taking a call from gossip columnist “Michael Sneed’s office,” which was hitting him up for names of celebrities who had dined at RL.)

If only Ralph Lauren’s publicists provided the same warm service as RL’s waiters.

In stories less than a month apart, the New York Post’s Page Six declared “A Listers flock to Ralph Lauren’s Polo Bar” and “Power set flocks to Ralph Lauren’s new restaurant.”

Repetitive but not exaggerated, given the New Yorker wrote: “It’s more like a club, with an elusive membership structure: to get on the list for dinner after five fifteen or before nine thirty, you simply have to be somebody.”

Matthew Broderick apparently gets no notice as the paparazzi chase Rihanna and Naomi Campbell, the magazine claimed.

“It’s probably the best opening of any restaurant we’ve ever opened, in terms of who we hired and how they performed from the get go,” Lombardo said,

although he was careful to credit Lauren for hand picking the menu and ambience.

Lombardo, Varnes, and Gregg Horan, Gibsons’ director of operations, traveled to New York to complete Ralph Lauren’s customer service training for retail employees before beginning their hiring search. Lombardo sounded genuine when he said he had learned a lot about customer service from the world’s largest fashion brand.

The rankings are based on a private, annual poll conducted by Elite Traveler, a “private jet lifestyle publication.” Elite’s announcement comes two months.”He has an unbelievable HR operation that really gets his sensibilities across,” Lombardo said.

So are the two restaurants identical expressions of Lauren’s sensibilities?

Here’s the official line: “Each restaurant is a unique extension of the Ralph Lauren brand and tells a different story inspired by the culture of the city, the architecture of the space and different elements of classic American cuisine,” a company spokeswoman said in an email.

Looking at photos side by side, the light fixtures look the same and the wood ceilings very similar. Lamps on tables look nearly identical. Paintings are arranged in the same 19th century salon style: everywhere, wall to wall. The leather booths are the same beyond slightly differing brown tones.

The corner booth with the best people watching in town? Same.

Impeccable service? From all accounts, same.

RL’s dominant color is a warm, regal blue, the Polo Bar’s green. There are many more paintings of horses at The Polo Bar, but RL has a few horses on its walls too.

The main differences are that while there is a “rail car sized bar” at ground level in both locations, The Polo Bar’s dining room is downstairs. “The Polo Bar Runs New York’s Toughest (and Most Irritating) Door Policy,” Grub Street wrote after two hostesses armed with iPads stood outside in a New York January blocking access to anyone without a reservation.

The Polo Bar also serves warm, cheese crusted popovers instead of bread, which Chicagoan Neal Zucker enthusiastically endorsed.

“It feels just like being at the one in Chicago,” said Zucker, who owns a Chicago window washing company and says he dines out for every meal. “At RL, you don’t see the outdoors either. It’s not an exact carbon copy,

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) Average temperatures in Pyeongchang in February, when the 2018 Winter Olympics open, hover around 23 degrees, and may plunge below that for the opening ceremony. But Team USA will be ready for the cold.

Ralph Lauren designed the uniforms and developed an exclusive heating system that’s made out of carbon and silver ink printed on the apparel. The flexible ink conducts heat and is bonded to the inside of the jackets in the shape of an American flag.

The heat is controlled by a slim battery pack and can be adjusted to a high or a low setting. It lasts up to five hours at the highest setting and 11 at the lowest. The buttons on the battery pack are extra large so they can be pushed with gloves.

The best thing about the jackets, given how low the temps can drop in Pyeongchang, may be the fact that the heat comes on immediately.

The heated parkas will be the centerpiece of Team USA’s uniform during the opening ceremony on February 9.
